The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail runs eleven miles along the inlet shoreline and is used by cyclists, joggers, and, in winter, cross-country skiers, offering views across to the volcanic peaks of the Alaska Range on clear days. Midtown and Spenard carry a more local, lived-in energy, with independent restaurants and neighbourhood bars that reflect the city's genuinely diverse population.
