Few Italian cities carry their reputation as honestly as Bologna. What you see is largely what you get: a medieval city of arcaded streets, rust-red towers, and a culinary tradition so deeply embedded in local identity that the nickname La Grassa, the fat one, has been worn with pride for centuries.
