The Chinese assembly halls, built by Fujian and Cantonese communities centuries ago, remain active places of worship rather than museum pieces. Beyond the old quarter, the Cam Nam and Cam Thanh areas offer a quieter register: flat rice paddies, water coconut palms, and a network of narrow waterways that thread through the landscape with little ceremony. It is in these channels that the round woven basket boats, known locally as thung chai, have been used by fishermen for generations, and the coconut boat ride that now appears across the town's experience catalogue draws directly on that working tradition.
