Over deze locatie

The Uffizi Gallery stands along the River Arno in Florence, occupying a long U-shaped palazzo commissioned by Cosimo I de' Medici in the sixteenth century and designed by Giorgio Vasari. Originally built to house the administrative offices of the Florentine magistrates, the building was gradually transformed into one of the world's great repositories of art, with the Medici family collections forming its extraordinary core. Opened to the public in 1765, it holds an unrivalled concentration of Italian Renaissance painting, including Botticelli's Birth of Venus and Primavera, works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio, as well as significant Flemish and German holdings.

Visitors today can explore the collection through timed entry tickets, reserved entry combined with an audio guide, or guided tours ranging from small private visits to VIP small-group experiences. A combined option also takes in the Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens across the Ponte Vecchio, extending the journey through Florence's Medici heritage into the hills above the city.
