Informazioni su questo luogo

The Fundació Joan Miró stands on the hill of Montjuïc in Barcelona, housed in a building designed by the Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert and completed in 1975. Sert, a close friend of Miró himself, created a luminous structure of white walls, courtyards, and skylights that floods the galleries with natural Mediterranean light, making the architecture as much a part of the experience as the collection it contains. The foundation holds the most comprehensive collection of Joan Miró's work in the world, spanning paintings, sculptures, textiles, and works on paper that trace his development from early figurative pieces to the bold primary colours and biomorphic forms that defined his mature style.

Visitors can explore the permanent collection at their own pace with a skip-the-line ticket, or join a guided tour available in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean for a more structured introduction to Miró's life and artistic legacy. The building also preserves the Espai 13 gallery and a rooftop terrace with sculptures overlooking the city, making the foundation one of Barcelona's most distinctive cultural institutions.
