Few stretches of the Turkish Mediterranean coast announce themselves quite as dramatically as Alanya does. The mountains are not merely a backdrop. They shape the microclimate, funnel rivers down through dramatic gorges, and create the conditions for excursions that feel genuinely remote despite the resort infrastructure at sea level. The Sapadere Canyon, carved by a tributary of the Dim River, is one such place, where cool air and vertical rock walls offer a sharp contrast to the heat of the coast below.
